The vintage artwork on the board shown here is the result of the artist's artistic expression. It is, in fact, a print that was modified with oil paint at the time. Specifically, the girl's face is not painted. The result is a unique artwork that cannot be compared to a regular print or painting.
This form of artistic freedom was widely practiced around the 1950s.The work portrays a young woman from the Netherlands in traditional costume against a dark background. Her face is softly illuminated, and she looks at the viewer with a friendly and slightly shy smile. Around her neck, she wears a striking red beaded necklace that strongly contrasts with her dark clothing and the background. A wide black frame with a narrow gold edge surrounds the entire piece.
The artwork is still in relatively good condition. Some minor imperfections are hardly visible when the work is hung. It was mounted in a frame that had been retouched here and there. Given its age, this frame is still in presentable condition.
